A Man of Joyful Commitment – H.O. Wolding (1912-2023)

Herbert O. WoldingMr. Herbert O. Wolding, 111, of Nelsonville died at his home November 17th, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. Herbert was born in the Town of New Hope on October 15, 1912, the son of Oliver and Hannah (Egeland) Wolding. He married Evelyn Henke on June 25,1934, in Waukegan, IL, and honeymooned at the Rosholt Fair. They were married over 76 years. Herbert and Evelyn worked together side by side, raising a family and building a business later known as H. O. Wolding, Inc. In their retirement they traveled together to Norway and across the country, though he never fully retired. Herbert was a faithful member of the Nelsonville Lutheran Church. He was a generous supporter of his church, the school, and programs that supported children. He often remarked how he loved the villages of Nelsonville. Amherst and Amherst Junction. Herbert always enjoyed seeing the bluebirds returning in the spring, messengers of hope.

He is survived by sons Richard Wolding, and Don (Cathi) Wolding; daughter Cathy (Alan) Kirsling; as well as daughter-in-law Marge Wolding, Herbert is further survived by grandchildren Marc (Deb) Wolding, Chris (Lisa) Wolding, Jeff (Betsy) Wolding, Jon (Tammy) Kirsling, Jason (Jenny) Kirsling, Brandon (Jennifer) Wolding, and special friend Cody Kandusak, 17 great-grandchildren, 3 step great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and 1 step great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Wolding, son Duane (Marge) Wolding, and three grandchildren, Shane Wolding, Tanner Wolding, and Erin Wolding.

Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 25, 2023 at Nelsonville Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3061 Oak Street, Nelsonville, WI 54458. Pastor Gretchen Anderson will officiate. Burial will follow at Nelsonville Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Friday, November 24th at Nelsonville Evangelical Lutheran Church and again on Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service.
